Summer is here and it’s time for one of my favorite desserts: Dulce de Leche Banana Pudding. I am a huge fan of the combination of banana and caramel/ Dulce de Leche so this is the perfect marriage of buttery, creamy, banana-y goodness!
Banana and dulce de Leche definitely don’t get enough love together. Think banana’s foster or banana upside down cake, but this dessert doesn’t need any heat to make it delicious. Dulce de Leche Banana Pudding is perfect for parties or outdoor BBQ’s that require more relaxed desserts.
The pudding base comes together in about 5 minutes, its just instant vanilla pudding and whipped cream. I don’t add any additional sugar to the whipped cream since the instant pudding is already very sweet and the Dulce de Leche is very sweet as well. This helps to balance out the sweetness and have a very light and fluffy pudding.
I also Like to crumble my Nilla Wafers so they get very soft and almost cake-like. I think the cookie layer is one of my favorite parts of Banana Pudding, its just so delicious!
Let me know if you make this and what you think, it’s definitely a fun and upgraded version from the banana pudding we all grew up with. Enjoy!
Dulce de Leche Banana Pudding
Equipment
- 1 Hand Blender
- 4 Rocks Glasses or 1 Large Trifle Dish
Ingredients
- 1 pkg Instant Vanilla Pudding
- 2 cups Cold Milk
- 1 cup Whipping Cream Cold
- 1 can Dulce de Leche
- 3 Bananas Sliced
- 1 cup Crushed Nilla Wafers
Instructions
- Make the Instant Pudding- in a large bowl fully mix the pudding package with milk and set aside.
- Whip the cream in a medium size bowl until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream into the vanilla pudding. Use your spatula and gently flip the pudding and whipped cream until incorporated. Do not stir.
- Assemble the puddings. You can make 4 individual desserts or one big trifle. Start with a layer of pudding, top with dulce de leche and gentle spread evenly over the pudding. Add banana slices in a single layer and top with nilla crumbles. Repeat until all your ingredients are done (you might not use the while dulce de leche can). I usually get 3 layers.
- Garnish with some dulce de leche and a sprinkle of nilla crumbles.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours and enjoy!
