Copycat Chili’s Mozzarella Sticks
You can skip the takeout and make these mozzarella sticks at home! They are so delicious, easy and worth the effort!
Ingredients
- 12 Mozzarella Slices thick, about 1/4 inch
- 3 Eggs
- 3 tbsp Milk
- 5 dashes Hot Sauce
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Italian Garlic Herb Seasoning
- 1 tbsp Chicken Bouillon Powder
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 1/2 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- Canola or Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella into 1/4 inch slices direct from the block.
- In 3 separate shallow dishes, make the egg wash (eggs, milk, hot sauce), flour mixture (flour ans seasonings) and panko breadcrumbs.
- Double Dredge the cheese by coating in the flour first, dip in the egg wash then back into the flour mixture. Dip back into eggs and the finish with the panko. Cover and press the panko into the coating to make sure it adheres to the cheese.
- Line all the dredged cheese onto a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours.
- Heat a shallow frying pan with vegetable oil to medium high heat. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches, about 2-3 minutes per side. When they are done they will be golden brown on both sides. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate.
- Serve immediately with ranch and marinara.
