You haven’t truly lived until you’ve had a street hotdog in Los Angeles made right in front of you. It’s so fresh, you watch them sauté the onions and peppers on the flat top, the bacon wrapped hotdogs crisped to perfection, stuffed in a bun ready to explode… my mouth is drooling just thinking about it.
You won’t get the full ~experience~ but this recipe comes close. My family even makes this style hotdogs for 4th of July, we’re California through and through. I like to make them in the oven to insure the bacon gets fully cooked and crispy, you can grill them, but make sure to do it on a lower heat to properly render the bacon. Add your favorite condiments and you’re ready to enjoy!
