Mangonada- with or without tequila- is a deliciously refreshing Mexican drink and its amazing just on it’s own. Mangonada is super vibrant and fun, usually topped with more mango and Mexican candies. It’s a snack and a drink all in one!
You can spike it with tequila blanco to add a little zing! There is enough lime in the Mangonada to give it that margarita feel paired with tequila.
Since I am currently pregnant, I used Zero-Proof Tequila by Lyre’s Spirit Co. and it was just as good as the real thing! I love that I can still feel like I’m having a cocktail and I don’t feel left out by not having a fancy drink.
While living in Costa Mesa California, I was lucky enough to live on a street where the Mangonada Lady would frequently sell fresh Mangonada daily. I would hear a bike horn, grab my cash and sprint out there. Mangonada are especially crucial during hot summer months when you need something to cool you off and super popular! If I didn’t get out there quickly they would sell out in a flash!
Enjoy this with your favorite Chamoy, Mexican candy and chili salt (Tajin).
